VCU completes regular season sweep of crosstown rival UR, 69-66

Malik Crowfield hit 4 of the 5 shots from deep for the Rams en route the 69-66 victory against crosstown rival, University of Richmond.

Crowfield would end the night going 4-7 from range for 57% while racking up 14 points.

De'Riante Jenkins was the only other Ram to connect from long range. He closed the night 9 points and three rebound.

VCU (23-6; 14-2 A10)  shot 5-20 from deep today for 25%, but used 42 points in the paint to wear down the Spiders.

Richmond's 16 turnovers led to 20 points for the visiting Rams.

VCU held a 64-59 lead before Richmond hit a barrage of three pointers in the two minutes.

But, 5-6 shooting from the free throw line in the final 90 seconds was enough to keep VCU ahead of the Spiders.

Marcus Evans led the Rams with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Issac Vann and Marcus Santos-Silva rounded out the double-digit scoring column for the Rams with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The win today makes it 10 straight victories for VCU, who most pundits have as a lock for the NCAA Tournament.

The win against UR also secured VCU at least a share of the A10 regular season title. The Rams need only win of the final two games to claim the title outright.
