VCU Defeats Wake Forest 90-69

<blockquote>Trailing by four points with a little more than 13 minutes to play, VCU exploded behind its press, went on an extended run and whipped Wake Forest 90-69 in the second round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Wake Forest.

The Rams will play the South Region winner in the semifinals next Wednesday at Madison Square Garden in New York.

VCU led by 13 in the first half but settled for a three-point lead at intermission. The Demon Deacons took their first lead at 46-45 and had a 53-49 advantage when VCU unleashed its press.

Led by Darius Theus, the Rams reeled off 12 points in 83 seconds and didn’t stop.

Bradford Burgess scored 21 points in the first half for VCU and finished with 25. Joey Rodriguez had 18, giving him 1,003 for his career. Brandon Rozzell had 17 points and Jamie Skeen 15.</blockquote>
