You know ESPN had to be excited to pair up the two teams who have knocked off powerhouse Kansas the last two years in the NCAA tournament.  Both the Rams and the Panthers made improbable runs in March recently and this game didn't disappoint as the Rams got the win 77-68.

VCU moved to 5-3  in their Bracketbuster career.  The Rams benefited from their long range ability hitting 8-21 of threes on the night.  Senior Bradford Burgess and Sophomore Rob Brandenberg led VCU with 3 three pointers on the night.

It was an offensive onslaught as the two teams combined for 86 points at the end of the first half on a wild buzzer beat by the Panthers.

Another spark for the Rams was Brandenberg.  The Ohio native scored 13 points in 26 minutes and was 5-7 from the field and was 3-5 from behind the arc.

The Rams defense created 19 turnovers for the Panthers.  Junior Darius Theus led all Rams with 4 steals and contributed 9 points.

Sophomore Juvonte Reddic chipped in a double double with 15 points and 11 boards.

The match up marked the 17th consecutive sell out setting a new school and CAA record.

Rams move to 23-6 on the year and will be on the road Feb 22 to play UNCW.
