After a win and a loss in Brooklyn this week, VCU traveled to Memphis to face the Tigers on Sunday at 5pm.
Unfortunately, it's a game the Rams may prefer to forget. After closing out the first half 30-16, Coach Rhoades hoped to turn the page and bounce back in the 2nd half. But it would be more of the same.
The game saw but only two lead changes, VCU being ahead only for 55 seconds of the entire 40 minutes. Memphis' largest lead would be 22 with 3:53 left to play in the second half.
The game would see 3 Rams hit the double digits scoring mark. Red shirt sophomore Jamir Watkins would lead all with 14 points while graduate transfer Brandon Johns Jr and sophomore Jayden Nunn would both chip in 10 points.
Both VCU and Memphis had 18 turnovers each but the Tigers managed to score 26 points off of the Rams' turnovers, while VCU only capitalized for 11 points off the same amount of turnovers.
Watkins also led all Rams in rebounding, 10, and assists, 3.
Once again VCU was without starting point guard junior Ace Baldwin. He will remains sidelined with a broken wrist.
Next up, VCU will host Kennesaw State on Saturday November 26th at 4pm. The game will be televised on MASN/ESPN+.
