VCU Coach, Mike Rhoades called a timeout to regroup and settle the Rams leading up to the halftime break.
The timeout was the spark for a 18-3 run for the VCU over the next five minutes of play.
Ace Baldwin connected on a layup to break the Spiders original run.
Nick Kern followed that with a three-point play, and Vince Williams connected from range to tied that game at 28 going into the locker room.
VCU started the second half hitting 8 of their first 10 shot attempts and finished the half shooting 17-30 overall for 57%.
Baldwin finished the night with a time-high 5 assists and matched teammate, Vince Williams, with a game-high 15 points.
Jalen DeLoach played 23 minutes with Hason Ward out of action. Deloach shared a team-high 7 rebounds with Mikeal Brown-Jones.
In only 11 minutes of play, Brown-Jones put up an impressive 11 points on 4-5 shooting, and 3-4 from the free throw line.
