VCU Rams edge past Davidson Wildcats in a close game, 63-58

The VCU Rams defeated the Davidson Wildcats 63-58 on Saturday night at Belk Arena, improving their record to 13-7 overall and 5-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Rams trailed by nine points in the second half, but rallied with a 7-0 run to take the lead and held on for the win.

Max Shulga led the Rams with 18 points and five rebounds. He shot 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-8 from the three-point line. Toibu Lawal added 13 points and six rebounds, while Zeb Jackson chipped in 9 points.

The Wildcats were led by Connor Kochera, who scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He shot 8-of-15 from the field. Reed Bailey had 10 points and nine rebounds, while Bobby Durkin had eight points and seven rebounds.

VCU shot 37.5% from the field and a more impressive 38.5% from the three-point line.

The Rams are now tied for third place in the Atlantic 10 standings, behind Dayton and Richmond. The Wildcats are in 10th place, with a 2-5 conference record.

VCU will face St. Bonaventure (12-7) on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 30th at 7pm.
