After a disappointing trip to Puerto Rico, VCU returned to the Siegel Center after a 5 day layoff. They hosted a familiar team in the Northeastern Huskies from the CAA. Despite playing without Senior Terrance Shannon, VCU was able to get the win against NU, 79-66.

Junior Treveon Graham had another great game and led all Rams in scoring with 24 points, connecting on all 4 of his three pointers.

With Shannon away from the team attending to a family matter, Mo Alie-Cox got the start and the opportunity for increased minutes and took advantage of the chance. Alie-Cox scored 7 points, grabbed 3 boards and 5 blocks for VCU. The Rams would out rebound NU 31-27.

Northeastern, also coming back from Puerto Rico, was led by Junior Scott Eatherton who is currently tied for leading the nation in double-doubles this seas with 5 so far. Eatherton would not add another game to his total after scoring 17 and nabbing just 7 rebounds.

The first half didn't bode well for VCU from behind the arc. Going into the break, VCU made 1-9 from 3 pointers. After trailing by 3 with under a minute in the first, Senior Rob Brandenberg led a quick turnaround after forcing a turnover and converting for a dunk that led to a huge block from Alie-Cox as the Rams went into the break 37-34.

The lead remained close until the 8:41 mark in the 2nd half as Graham nailed a three from the corner and collected the foul, going for the four point play to extend the Rams lead to 9, 61-53.

Defense, once again played a large part in the victory. VCU was able to convert 16 turnovers into 17 points, contributing in the 13 point win.

VCU moves to 5-2 on the season and will travel to Tennessee as the Rams will play Belmont, Sunday December 1st.
