VCU came out firing, hitting
seven of their first eight shots while Davidson
missed its first seven. That dominance led to a
16-1 opening run before the Wildcats finally responded with a
10-0 spurt of their own.
Clark and Jackson Ignite the Offense
Jack Clark found his rhythm early, drilling
back-to-back threes and finishing the first half with
14 points, including a perfect
4-of-4 from deep. The Rams put together another
13-1 run, and Zeb Jackson closed the half in style, hitting
back-to-back threes, including a
buzzer-beater to send VCU into halftime with a
43-19 lead.
Lockdown Defense Smothers Wildcats
Davidson managed just
seven first-half field goals, shooting
25% from the floor and
17% from three. VCU’s pressure never relented, forcing tough shots all night as the Wildcats finished at just
36.5% overall and
27.3% from deep.
Bamgboye Shines as Rams Control the Paint
Luke Bamgboye scored a
season-high 17 points on
7-of-8 shooting, adding four rebounds and a block. VCU owned the glass, winning the rebounding battle
43-25, which led to a
16-6 advantage in second-chance points. The Rams also dominated inside, outscoring Davidson
40-24 in the paint.
Wire-to-Wire Statement Win
VCU never trailed, leading for
39 minutes and 27 seconds en route to their
eighth straight victory. Over their last
seven games, the Rams have outscored opponents by an average of 21 points per game. The win also improves their
home record to a perfect 14-0 this season.
