VCU to add women's lacrosse in 2015

VCU's board of visitors voted to approve the addition of women's lacrosse starting in the fall of 2015 to ensure compliance with Title IX.

Due to VCU's enrollment of 55% women to 44% men, the school is required to provide gender equality in it's educational programs, including providing athletic participation opportunities in proportion to male and female enrollment.

VCU currently participates in eight men's and women's sports and hasn't added a D1 sport since bringing women's soccer to VCU in 1995.
