This past September VCU did away with the center court ram head in favor of the simplified and updated <a title="VCU script logo" href="http://www.vcuramnation.com/2012/09/vcu-athletics-unveils-new-court-design/">VCU script logo</a>.
That was apparently some foreshadowing as VCU Athletics is set to release a new ram head logo..."soon".
Earlier today in response to a complaint about the Rams' text only look, VCU AD Ed McLaughlin tweeted:

This past August VCU launched a brand campaign that included newly designed University logos. It's only fitting that the University's most recognizable product since the Rams Final 4 run two seasons ago, athletics, received the same treatment.
