VCU unable to rally as the Rams fall to Wagner at home

Wagner led for nearly 27 minutes of the game as they bullied past VCU (1-1) on their home court, 58-44.

Hason Ward put the Rams up 6 points with 9:55 left to play in the first half.

The Rams held onto that lead until the 1:41 mark of the first half when Wagner tied the game at 26 points.

A foul with only 1 second on the clock put the Seahawks at the free throw where they took a 1 point lead into the locker room.

The Rams wouldn't retake the lead for the remainder of the content.

Ward ended his night with 4 points to go with his team leading rebounding (6) and blocks (3).

Wagner scored 11 second chance points as a result of their 17 offensive rebounds.

Overall, the Seahawks out rebounded the Rams 42-24.

VCU has only secured 8 offensive rebounds total over their first two game stretch.

The Rams trouble with turnovers continued with tonights content as they turned the ball over 15 times. The Seahawks capitalized by changing those turnovers into 13 points.

VCU shot 17-42 on the night for 40% overall, but were never able to get their long-range game going as they went 3-11 (27%) from deep.

The Rams struggled from the free throw line as well as they were 47% overall (7-15) as team.

KeShawn Curry was the lone Ram to break into double-digit scoring tonight as he led the team with 12 points on 4-8 shooting.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday, November 17th, as they head to Vanderbilt to take on the Commodores.

That game is set to tip at 8pm EST.
