VCU wins fourth straight; holds on to beat Fordham 66-61

The final fives minutes were all KeShawn Curry as he scored the final 11 straight points for VCU (17-7; 10-3 A10).

During that span, Curry went 2-2 from the floor and added 7-8 free throws to help keep VCU a comfortable enough cushion to hand Fordham the 66-61 loss.

The senior guard finished the night with a team-high 21 points on 7-11 shooting.

VCU led at one point by 17 points, but a 21-10 run by Fordham over the first 12 minutes of the second half saw the home-Rams creep as close as three points.

But, a layup by Curry in the paint and then a three-pointer from fellow senior, Vince Williams, would push VCU out of reach for the rest of the contest.

Williams added 19 points on the night for VCU to go with his team-high tying 7 rebounds.

After shooting a red-hot 70% on 18-26 shooting in the first half, VCU struggled to find their groove from the floor in the second half where they connected on just 8 of their 26 field goal attempts for 30%.

VCU's defense converted 17 turnovers into 22 points including 13 fast break points.

Hason Ward was only able to clock 7 minutes before he landed awkwardly on his left foot following one of his three made baskets.

Jayden Nunn grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 5 assists to go with his 2 points.

Point guard, Ace Baldwin, dished out a game-high 7 assists as well as 4 rebounds and 4 points.

It was Baldwins second straight game of playing 40 minutes.

VCU improves to 8-1 on the road this season, and this win marks their 4th straight victory.

The Rams will return to action on Friday, February 18th, as the host the crosstown Spiders of UR. That game is set to tip at 7pm EST and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
