VCU wins nail-biter; beats LSU, 84-82.

With just 41 seconds left in the game, LSU took an 82-81 lead behind two free throws from Skylar Mays.

On the very next possession, VCU's (3-0) De'Riante Jenkins was fouled on his three point attempt. He connected on two of his three shots giving the Rams their final lead of the night with only 26 seconds remaining.

A rebound on the other end by Marcus Santos-Silva led to a foul against the Tigers, and the VCU big man added one more VCU free throw to put the Rams ahead, 84-82.

With 4 seconds left on the clock and a shot to win the game, LSU's Skylar Mays lost the ball out of bounds—leaving the Rams the ability to inbound the ball to end the game.

Mays would lead all-scorers with 23 points for the Tigers.

LSU struggled all night with holding onto the ball as the Rams forced them into 26 turnovers—resulting in 37 points for VCU.

Jenkins ended the night with 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Santos-SIlva recorded his second double-double of the year—8th of his career—as he led the Rams in both points scored and rebounds; 17 and 11, respectively.

LSU opened the game on a 6-0 run, but were quickly met with an enthusiastic crowd willing their home team on.

The Rams used an 8-0 run of their own to take the lead back from the Tigers—a lead VCU would hold onto through the remainder of the first half. In fact, the lead did not change again until the final minute of play.

The Rams had five players reach double figures on the night: Jenkins, Santos-Silva, Marcus Evans (15 points), Issac Vann (11 points), and Vince Williams (11 points).

Williams ended the night with a +18 efficiency rating on 11pts, 7reb, 1 blk, and 3 stls in 23 minutes of play.

VCU shot a pivotal 23-29 from the free throw line tonight for 79% overall.

The Rams improve to 3-0 on the season and return to action Sunday, November 17th, as they host Jacksonville State. That game is set to tip at 12pm EST.
