Get out your planner, because there's a lot going on the next two weeks and you're going to want to make sure you get all of these things done:
1) Tomorrow, Oct 1, 6:30AM - Walk-on to VCU's basketball team: The Rams will hold walk-on tryouts just before the roosters wakes up tomorrow at 6:30AM. So if you're about 6'8, a full-time student, have a recently completed physical as well as proof of insurance and have filled out the appropriate forms and turned them in to Video Coordinator Dwight Perry by today, give it your best shot. It may be your name we're chanting with :30 left on the clock in a VCU blowout next season at the Stu.
2) Tomorrow, Oct 1, 9AM - Purchase VCU at UofR tickets: Find it hard to get VCU tickets but want to see the Rams play in the city of Richmond? Well, there's always that other University that typically only sells out one game per year...the University of Richmond, and of course I'm talking about their renewed conference rivalry with VCU. 3) Wednesday, Oct 2, 7PM - Attend VCU's home opening volleyball game: Hard to believe none of VCU's 16 volleyball games this season (12 of which were wins) have been at the Siegel Center. Well here's your chance to show your love of VCU goes beyond men's hoops by watching one of the most exciting sports you'll ever watch while welcoming new volleyball coach, Jody Rogers, to Ram Nation. VCU's field hockey team is also in action at 6PM that night, so if you head straight from work you can catch not one but TWO teams in action on Wednesday night, and get to take a nice evening stroll across campus in between.
4) Friday, Oct 4, 9AM - Purchase VCU at UVA tickets: Credit to UVA head coach Tony Bennett and the Cavaliers, they finally scheduled the Rams in a home-and-home series, starting this season at UVA. VCU will play the Cavaliers in what should be a matchup of two top-25 ranked in-state teams at the JPJ on November 12, VCU's second game of the season. Should certainly sellout, and will if Ram fans travel as we expect them to. Away teams usually receive a small allotment of tickets from the host school, so we advice purchasing your tickets directly from UVA the second they go on sale to ensure you'll be in Charlottesville to represent the black and gold. 5) Sunday, Oct 6, 1PM - Attend VCU soccer's A-10 title rematch against SLU: The Rams have hit a bit of a skid after receiving their No.8 national ranking, but get a chance to bounce back in a big way against No.21 Saint Louis. The black and gold lost to the Billikens in last season's A-10 title game, but have a chance to open up conference play with what would be a monster win for Dave Giffard and company. It's no secret that VCU has one of the brightest young coaching minds in the game, so try and make it out to SportsBackers for this one, should be a battle.
6) Monday, Oct 7 - Purchase Black and Gold Ball tickets: VCU will host the 4th Annual Black & Gold Ball presented by D&H Construction on Friday, Oct. 11, but if you want to be in the building for that event you'll have to have registered by the 7th. The event promises a night of gambling, drinking and other fun things that you can't actually do at a VCU basketball game, on the Siegel Center floor. Also, I'll be there, so you'll get to see what I'm like after a couple of spirits and a hot hand at the roulette table.
