Watching VCU hoops is what we all love. Watching it with two of the greats, VCU Final 4 guards, Ed Nixon and Bradford Burgess, is even better.
We grabbed a table at Baja Bean Company in the Fan yesterday to take in VCU at Duquesne with the former Rams as the first part of what we hope will be a long-running series: In the kitchen with Chef Nixon.
Ed Nixon made a name for himself for his aggressive defense during his time at VCU but also for his team-leading "swag" (swag swag) that was a key part of the confidence VCU used to dance from First 4 to Final 4 in 2011. We kick off our first video in this new series with former teammate and VCU legend, "Big Shot" Bradford Burgess on a recent trip back stateside on a break from his professional hoops duties in Sicily.
Burgess' talents have taken him from VCU to Belgium to now Italy where he competes with the likes of Juvonte Reddic and Eric Maynor in Italy's top pro league.
Our chef caught up with Brad to ask about his new professional career as well as some questions about the VCU basketball team his younger brother Jordan now plays for.
Bon Appétit!
