We sat down with incoming freshman Marcus Santos-Silva, a 6'8 250lb center out of Vermont Academy. Marcus originally committed to VCU under the recruitment of former head coach Will Wade, but along with incoming freshman Sean Mobley, decided to stay at VCU under new head coach Mike Rhoades. Marcus tells us that Rhoades taking the head coaching job at VCU felt like a blessing, due to connections and relationships.
His commitment to VCU is well-timed, as the Rams will need to reload in the paint with the departure of Mo Alie-Cox and Ahmed Hamdy.
Santos-Silva is a nature lefty, is best known for his rebounding, and has been praised for his work ethic. He talks to us about his preparations for the upcoming season, and his excitement for a potential matchup against LSU in the Maui Invitational.
