After a tough loss on Saturday against George Washington University, VCU’s winning streak came to an end after 12 games. Sure, we’d prefer to keep on winning but looking back, there are a few silver linings.

Of course, we know that Melvin Johnson provides leadership through experience in his senior season. He is getting some help from starting point guard, Junior Jequan Lewis.

In a winning streak that saw any given Ram have a great performance, Lewis was not without his share.

Lewis’ scoring is dynamic. Usually being the fastest player on the court, it allows him to get to the bucket. Of his 155 points during the Rams 12 game winning streak, 62 of those came from within the paint from where he shot 31-54 (57.4%). Not a mind blowing stat but considering that he was just 36.5% within the paint all of last season, that’s a healthy jump for your starting point guard.

No one player is responsible for VCU's 12 game winning streak but Lewis has had some impressive performances during that stretch. Here's a video breakdown of his contributions.
