He's a Richmond local but you may not recognize him at first glance. Mike'l Simms is a Highland Springs product but spent his freshman year at Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas.
In his first year at Cowley College, he averaged 14 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. When his first season was over in Kansas, Simms opened his recruiting from other schools but, Simms admitted, that Virginia Commonwealth University was his "dream" school.
