Video: Rams beat up on the Billikens, 64-50 [INSIDER]

Ram nation packed the Siegel Center for a 98th consecutive time on Wednesday night as Saint Louis rolled into town. Coach Will Wade and company looked to get the team’s 9th straight win. After an even first half, a second half surge would propel the Rams to a 64-50 win.

After senior JeQuan Lewis picked up two fouls early, junior Johnny Williams commanded the defense’s attention. Behind his aggressive play, Williams went for 17 points, leading all VCU scorers but only contributed 1 assist in the win.

Junior Justin Tillman scored 14 points and collected 10 rebounds, notching his 7th double double on the season. Freshman Samir Doughty scored 13 points in 24 minutes.

Both teams shot evenly on the night, SLU shot 38% to VCU’s 37%. The Billikens turned the ball over 5 more times than the Rams with 16. VCU only grabbed 9 more rebounds than SLU.

The bench proved to be a big help for the Rams. VCU’s bench outscored the Billikens, 21-11.

VCU moves to 23-5 (13-2 in conference) on the season. VCU will travel to Rhode Island on Saturday, February 25th to play the Rhode Island Rams at 2pm. The game will air on ESPN2.
