Video: Rams outrun the Broncs; beat Rider 90-79 [INSIDER]

VCU fans packed the Siegel Center one last time in 2018 as the Rams played Rider for the first time. Sunday’s game also marked the final game before conference play begins for the Rams. It was a collective effort that helped pushed the Rams past the Broncs, 90-79.

5 Rams saw double digit scoring Sunday afternoon. Junior Mike’L Simms led them all with 15 points. Right behind were juniors Marcus Evans, De’Riante Jenkins, Malik Crowfield and Issac Vann with 15, 14, 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Due to having 4 fouls on the afternoon, Sunday’s game was the first time in the last 5 games that sophomore Marcus Santos-Silva did not gather a double-double.

In the first half, VCU shot 50% from behind the arc, connecting on 6 of their 12 three pointers. In the second half it was more of the same, as the Rams shot 47%, shooting 8-17 from three point land.

As far as rebounding goes, it was a fairly even score. VCU edges out the Broncs on the boards, 36-34.

The win moves VCU to 9-4 on the season. The Rams will kick off Atlantic 10 conference play at Fordham on Saturday, January 5th at 2pm. The game will be televised locally on CBS 6.1.
