The VCU Rams had a familiar face in the house in former VCU guard, now Utah Jazz guard, Eric Maynor but it couldn't help them from keeping it close against the Rams of Rhode Island late in the game Wednesday night at the Stu.
The Rams got help from guard Brandon Rozzell with 17 points off the bench and 4 steals while forward Larry Sanders finished with 19 points and 11 boards to help give VCU the edge.
VCU's trouble with free throws late in the 2nd half allowed Rhode Island to keep it close, almost hitting a 3 point shot at the buzzer to take the win.
