Video: Rams run off Minutemen; beat UMASS 81-64 [INSIDER]

Four to eight inches of snowing could not keep ram nation from filling up the Siegel Center Saturday afternoon as VCU welcomed UMASS into town. The Rams aimed to get their 3rd straight conference win after beating Duquesne Wednesday evening. Even scoring helped Coach Wade and the Rams defeat the Minutemen, 81-64.

Senior JeQuan Lewis led all Rams in scoring with 17 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field. Lewis found his teammates 6 times for buckets. Lewis was followed by fellow senior Doug Brooks who dropped in 14 for the rams and grabbed 5 rebounds.

Junior Justin Tillman notched a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. The fourth Ram that scored in the double digits was junior Johnny Williams who scored 12.

Both teams played relatively clean basketball, turning the ball over a combined 25 times, VCU 11 times to UMASS’ 14 times.

VCU moves to 13-3 (3-0) on the season. The rams will host George Washington University on Wednesday, January 11th at 6pm. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
