Days after locking up the Atlantic 10 regular season title, VCU welcomed Saint Joseph’s to the Siegel Center late Friday night in hopes of sending their seniors out with a win for their final home game.
Junior Marcus Evans led all rams in scoring with 23 points. Evans shot 7 for 1 from the field and made 3 three pointers. He also chipped in 4 assists.
Junior Issac Vann scored 15 on 6-16 shooting while junior De’Riante Jenkins scored 11.
Sophomore Marcus Santos-Silva may have only scored 3 points but he grabbed 9 rebounds in the win over the Hawks.
The Rams enjoyed a steady lead throughout the whole game but the rebound battle was fairly even with 33 rebounds for the Hawks and 37 for the Rams.
The win moves VCU to 25-6 (16-2) on the season. The Rams will travel to Brooklyn next week for the Atlantic 10 tournament. VCU’s next game will be on Friday, March 15th at 12pm and they will play winner of Rhode Island vs La Salle.
