After escaping by the skin of their teeth in Dayton on Saturday, the Rams returned to Broad Street and welcomed the rams of Rhode Island. Tuesday’s match up was a much smoother ride for VCU, sailing to a 76-42 victory.
The game saw two VCU players score in double digits. Junior De’Riante Jenkins scored 14 points on 5-9 scoring, hitting 4 three pointers on 6 attempts. Sophomore Marcus Santos-Silva led the way with 19 points.
Santos-Silva did it all also grabbing 12 rebounds on the night. Tonight marks his 5th double double of the season.
Rhode Island shot 30% to VCU’s 50%. URI hit just 13 of 43 shot and only had 4 field goals in the second half.
VCU shot 31-62 and 11-27 from behind the arc. Oddly enough, the battle of the boards was fairly even. VCU gathered just 2 more rebounds, 33-31.
The win moves VCU 20-6 (11-2) on the season. VCU will host George Washington University Saturday, February 23rd at 2pm. The game will be televised on CBS6.
