Video: VCU bounces back, beat La Salle convincingly, 90-52 [INSIDER]

After a devastating loss at Fordham on Wednesday night, VCU looked to bounce back as they welcomed La Salle into the Siegel Center on Sunday afternoon. The Rams came out with all the intensity that last week’s game lacked and they took it to the Explorers in a convincing, 90-52, win.

Behind an even attack, it would be senior JeQuan Lewis who really was the heartbeat for VCU on the court today. Lewis would score 15 and help out with 5 assists.

5 Rams scored in double digits. Junior Justin Tillman has the most with 16, Lewis and freshman Samir Doughty both scored 15, Seniors Jordan Burgess and Ahmed Hamdy scored 10 and 13, respectively.

Credit to VCU’s defense, La Salle only shot 28% on the afternoon, hitting just 15 of 53 from the field.
The Explorers also turned the ball over 6 more times than VCU, ending with 16 turnovers to VCU’s 10.

VCU’s presence in the post worked all day long for the Rams as almost half of the Rams points came from inside the paint. VCU scored 40 in the paints compared to La Salle’s 14.

The win moves VCU to 15-5 on the season (5-2 in conference). The Rams will host the Dayton Flyers on Friday, January 27th at 9pm. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
