Video: VCU cannot fight off Illini, lose to Illinois 64-46 [INSIDER]

VCU traveled down to Miami to take part in the Hoopshall Miami Invitational at the American Airlines Arena. The Rams faced Illinois and had an ice cold shooting performance in the 64-46 loss.

Senior Mo Alie-Cox led all Rams in scoring with just 10 points. Freshman Samir Doughty would be right behind with 9 points.

VCU shot 30% on the afternoon, connecting on just 16-53 shots from the field and 2 of 18 from behind the arc.

The fighting Illini shot just over 40% from the field and hit 22 of their 52 shots, 42% form three point land, 6-14.

The battle of the boards was fairly evenly matched as both teams pulled down 35 rebounds each.

VCU turned the ball over 14 times while Illinois turned it over 11.

VCU moves to 6-2 on the season and will host Georgia Tech on Wednesday, December 7th.
