Holiday plans didn’t stop the Siegel Center from selling out for the 108th time as VCU hosted the Keydets from VMI. The Rams aimed for their 3rd straight win, a season high, against the team from the Southern Conference. Behind Senior Justin Tillman’s 19 points, the Rams would get their 8th in of the season.

Tillman led all scorers with 19th and grabbed 13 rebounds, making it his 4th game with double digits points and rebounds this season.
Sophomore De’Riante Jenkins chipped in 17 points on 6-14 shooting, going 4-10 from behind the arc. He contributed 6 assists.
Just a few minutes in, the game was never in doubt, VCU steadily holding a comfortable lead. Their largest lead was 23 with 8:09 left in the 2nd half.
Both teams turned the ball over 17 times. The teams were pretty fairly matched in rebounding, VCU grabbing just one more board than the Keydets, 36-35.
The win moves VCU to 8-5 on the season. VCU will open conference play, hosting Fordham on Saturday, December 30th at 12:30 pm.
