VCU welcomed the sharpshooting Davidson Wildcats to the Siegel Center in a battle of what appears at this juncture to be two of the top A-10 teams, then sent the Wildcats home with their first loss as an Atlantic 10 member in the 71-65 Rams win.

Shaka Smart's crew had their hands full with a Wildcats offense that ranks third nationally in scoring but managed to limit guard Jack Gibbs to just 1-10 shooting a game after the sophomore dropped 32 on the Richmond Spiders in the Wildcats first A-10 win.

The black and gold didn't have their best game from deep (7-22) but did just enough on offense to keep Davidson at arms length, never trailing on the night. The Rams held the Wildcats to a season-low 65 points by holding them to 37.3% shooting on the night, 11% below their season average.

Treveon Graham once again led VCU in scoring with 15 points on the night. Graham was just 4-14 from the field but connected on all six of his free throws and added a game-high 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Freshman, Terry Larrier, gave the Rams a big spark off the bench a game after starting for the then-injured Jordan Burgess. Larrier scored 11 points on 4-7 shooting and grabbed five rebounds in his 17 minutes of action.

Melvin Johnson rounds out the group of double-digit scorers with 11 points of his own.

VCU's bench totaled 29 points, outscoring Davidson's by 13. Doug Brooks had eight of those points on 3-5 shooting in 11 minutes of action.

The win moves VCU to 12-3 on the season and a perfect 2-0 heading into Saturday's matchup with reigning A-10 tournament champion, Saint Joseph's.
