Video: VCU loses battle to College of Charleston; 83-79[INSIDER]

6 days after a hard fought loss in Charlottesville, VCU took the court at the Siegel Center, hosting the College of Charleston Cougars. The Cougars, currently #1 the Colonial Athletic Conference, VCU’s old conference, upset a packed Siegel Center crowd in the 83-79 VCU loss.

Junior De’Riante Jenkins led all Rams in scoring with 21 points, shooting 8-18 on the night. Sophomore Marcus Santos-Silva was not too far behind, chipping in 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

For the Cougars, it was a another big night for junior Grant Riller and senior Jarrell Brantley. Both turned in 30 and 26 points respectively.

VCU turned the ball over 16 times to College of Charleston’s 23 but the Rams were out rebounded by the Cougars 39-31.

Freshman Vince Williams scored 13 points and went 5-6 from the field and grabbed 5 rebounds. Redshirt junior Marcus Evans also saw double digit scoring with 10 points.

Saturday’s match up marked the 6th meeting between the schools. VCU owning the series 4-2.

The loss moves VCU to 7-4 on the season. The Rams’s next game will be at the Siegel Center on Saturday, December 22nd and they will play Wichita State at 4pm. The game will be televised on ESPN 2.
