VCU returned to the Siegel Center, after what Coach Wade called an ‘embarrassment’ of a loss in Miami against Illinois on Saturday. The match up this time would also prove to be a tough one as ram nation welcomed Georgia Tech. Last time these two faced off, VCU lost after squandering an early lead. Wednesday the Rams forced overtime but in the end, things would not fall VCU’s way in the 76-73 loss.
The night saw three Rams scoring in the double digits. Junior Justin Tillman led them all with 26 points on the night while grabbing 9 rebounds. Senior JeQuan Lewis was next up with 16 points and 7 assists. Senior Doug Brooks scored 10 points and almost hit a half court shot as the buzzer sounded that would have sent it into double overtime.
VCU shot 42% on the night, hitting 25 of 60 shots. The Rams shot 40% from behind the arch going 8-20 on the night.
The battle of the boards was evenly matched with the Yellow Jackets grabbing 38 to VCU’s 36.
Georgia Tech’s Junior guard Tadric Jackson gave VCU fits all night long and chipped in 24 points for the Yellow Jackets, which is 14 more than his season average.
VCU moves to 6-3 on the season and will travel down to Norfolk on Saturday, December 10th to play Old Dominion at 8pm, the game will be broadcast live at 8pm on ASN (American Sports Network).
