It was a tale of two halves as VCU rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to roll Duquesne, 80-65.
The Rams struggled to hit shots early, connecting on just 33.3% of their first half field goals and free throws but scored 53 second half points while holding Duquesne to just seven field goals to finish the game.
Rob Brandenberg paced the Rams early, scoring all of his 11 points in the first half.
The second half saw a slew of players get hot, led by Briante Weber's 10-point, 6-rebound performance. Fellow senior, Juvonte Reddic, posted seven points and six rebounds in his 13 minutes of second half play. Junior Treveon Graham added eight points and seven assists while sophomore Melvin Johnson posted nine points in 10 second half minutes off the bench. Freshman JeQuan Lewis posted six second half points including two big threes in 25 seconds as a part of an 8-0 VCU run.
The Rams forced 17 Duquesne turnovers and out-rebounded the Dukes 48-37.
The win moves VCU to 14-4 and 2-1 in A-10 play heading into a two-game road trip that starts Wednesday night at Dayton (13-5, 1-2).
