Granted, this wasn't the same group of guys who frustrated Eric Maynor and gave Larry Sanders fits, this was a new breed of Husky, the kind that with a loss today equalled last year's season total (13).  Either way, the pups helped fetch VCU a share of 1st place in CAA play, coupled with a Hofstra loss at 4PM (hey, thanks ODU).
Once again the Rams would have to make due without former starters Toby Veal and Brandon Rozzell, both recovering from recent surgeries.
VCU didn't get the huge breakout performance it got this past Wednesday in Williamsburg.  What they did get was a heavy dose of the Rams most consistent players.
Bradford Burgess lead all players with 26 points and a dominating first half performance.  The junior out of Benedictine was a rebound shy of another double double, but added 5 steals on the afternoon.
VCU's leading scorer on the season, Jamie Skeen, added 18 points and 7 rebounds of his own.  Skeen added 4 assists and hit 6-of-10 shots on the evening.
Joey Rodriguez lead all players with 7 assists and scored 7 points on the night.
The win was VCU's 13th on the season, and puts them even with JMU and Hofstra at 5-1 and conference play.
The Rams will get set to take on Georgia State this Wednesday at home, in a rematch of the Black-and-Gold's only CAA loss this season.
