The Rams used hot shooting and their patented havoc defense to completely out-league their DII rival from just across Lombardy Street, absolutely throttling the Panthers to the tune of a 94-44 preseason W.
Troy Daniels lead the Rams early and had a hard time missing shots, hitting 4-of-6 threes for a total of 16 first half points to lead all players. Daniels was 6-of-10 for a game-leading 19 points -- 16 of which came in just 11 first-half minutes -- and added two rebounds in the win.
The Rams hit 49.3% of their shots on the evening (52.6% in the first half) and turned Union over a very VCU-like 22 times.
Briante Weber was his usual disruptive self, notching 8 steals to go with 12 points in just 20 minutes of play.
The Rams played an incredibly deep bench, having no player play more than 20 minutes and 11 with at least 14 on the game.
VCU is back in action, this time in a regular season opening tip against Florida Gulf Coast, Friday, Nov 9th at 7:30PM at the Stuart C Siegel Center.
