The Siegel Center welcomed back ram nation on Friday night as they hosted California (PA). Coach Will Wade assumed his role for the first time at the head of the bench for VCU (sort of, it was an exhibition). After a slow start in the first half, the Rams would go on to handle the Vulcans, 96-60.
There were plenty of new faces for the VCU faithful to get to know. Junior Ahmad Hamdy showed a lot of energy in the paint off the bench scoring 6 points in in 14 minutes played. Senior Korey Billbury also played his role dropping 10 points in 24 minutes.
But it was Senior Melvin Johnson who would lead everyone in scoring with 21 points in 25 minutes. Junior Jordan Burgess would also chip in 16 on the night.
Sure it was just an exhibition game but Coach Wade and VCU gave ram nation a lot to cheer about and look forward to this upcoming season.
