Visa issues for VCU freshman? [INSIDER]

VCU social media sleuths have likely noticed by now one rather large incoming Ram has been missing in action from his fellow freshmen's instagram posts and the like, that player coming in the form of 6'9 Springfield native by way of St. Thomas, Barbados, Hason Ward.

The shot-blocker with the massive 7'4 wingspan is set to join Bones Hyland, Jarren McAllister, Tre Clarke and Arnold Henderson in the Rams' 2019 class, the second highest-ranked class in this year's Atlantic 10 according to 247Sports, but it appears he's yet to join his teammates this summer however, the reason VCURamNation.com is hearing is due to issues with the incoming freshman's visa.

This isn't an uncommon problem for foreign-born athletes these days. Just recently defending Citi Open tennis champ, Svetlana Kuznetsova, had to pull out of defending her Open title due to the Russian's issue with her's. Former No.1 overall recruit and like Ward, a native of the Caribbean, DeAndre Ayton, reportedly had trouble returning to the United States from his native Bahamas in 2016.

Visa issuance delays by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have reportedly stalled international students across the board and in this case, may be playing some summer defense on the black and gold as well.
