WEBER SIGNS WITH LAKERS[/HEADING=3]
Days after being waived by the Charlotte Hornets, the former Rams point guard has latched on with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Vertical's Shams Charina reported Tuesday that Weber had agreed to a partially guaranteed contract with the team, meaning he'll get an opportunity to join the Lakers for Training Camp and will get a chance to earn a roster spot this preseason.
The Lakers become the fifth team Weber will call home since going undrafted in 2015 following a college career-ending knee injury.
Weber posted huge numbers with the G-League's (former D-League) Souix Falls Skyforce and earned NBA stints with Memphis, Miami, Golden State and Charlotte before this latest location change.
ALIE-COX PLACED ON COLTS INJURED RESERVE[/HEADING=3]
Saturday the NFL's Indianapolis Colts waived injured VCU hoops star turned tight end, Mo Alie-Cox, but upon being cleared off waivers have added him to the team's injured reserve list.
This is a basketball blog at a basketball school, so for those unfamiliar, this is roughly what that all means: "Prior to the first cutdown date, injured players with less than 4 years of service cannot go onto IR until they pass through waivers. Those players are released with the “waived/injured” designation. Known as “injury waivers”, this process exposes the player to waivers, but warns other teams that the player is injured. If the player clears injury waivers, the team can then either place the player on IR or agree to an injury settlement (paying the player for the weeks that he is expected to be recovering from his injury) and then release the player.”

A number of former Rams signed new European pro hoops contracts. Here's a quick updated list.
Doug Brooks - The recent grad picked up his first professional hoops gig, agreeing to terms with MBK Handlova of the Slovak Extraliga.
B.A. Walker - The 2007 VCU grad continues his successful professional career in France with Saint-Quentin. The team plays in the the French NM1 league, which is the country's third division.
Justin Tuoyo - A 2017 UT Chattanooga grad, Tuoyo played his freshman season at UTC before following Will Wade to the Mocs back in 2013. He'll play his next season as a professional hooper in Hungary's top pro league with Egis Kormand. Tuoyo played two games this summer on team Ram Nation's TBT team.
LAMAR TAYLOR PLEADS GUILTY IN FRAUD CASE[/HEADING=3]
2001 VCU team captain Lamar Taylor has pled guilty for conspiring to defraud Medicaid and for evading tax payments that could get him up to 15 years in prison.
The John Marshall grad played four years with the Rams before going on to a brief pro career in Uruguay, then went on to own Global Interventions LLC in Alexandria.
Taylor admitted his company billed for hundreds of mentoring sessions that never took place, netting the company close to $600,000 in Medicaid money. He also avoided paying personal and employment taxes that put his evasion liability close to $400,000.
