Briante Weber is officially a member of the Miami Heat.

The former VCU point guard signed a deal with the Heat as they officially announced the waiving of guard Corey Hawkins today, making room for the defensive standout who's college career ended prematurely due to a torn ACL and MCL just over eight months ago.

Weber had signed a free agent contract with the Heat after going undrafted but later failed a team physical during the team's camp this summer.

At the time Weber's agent Bill Neff stated that they knew Weber could fail the physical but that they wanted to still be with the Heat and that Weber could play for the Sioux Dalls SkyForce this season, Miami's NBA D-League affiliate.

Details of the contract were not discussed.

Weber will wear No.25 with the Heat as the newest member of the National Basketball Association.
