In college hoops there are a number of ways to measure success, the obvious ones being wins, postseason appearances and player graduation rate. While those are all great, you really know you've made it when someone names a sandwich after you.
Will Wade has wasted no time in endearing himself to Richmonders and VCU faithful and that point has just been hammered home with Wade's first namesake sandwich, "The Coach".
Local restaurant, Garnett's, is a popular Fan sandwich shop on the corner of Meadow and Park, a short walk from VCU's Monroe Park campus. Being owned and operated by big-time Ram fan Kendra Feather (also of Ipanema Cafe on VCU's campus as well as The Roosevelt in Church Hill), the cafe dropped a number of player-inspired sandwiches on the scene following VCU's 2011 Final 4 run and has just added a Will Wade sandwich to the menu.
Wade's sandwich is based off a classic and a personal favorite of the Ram's new head coach: roast beef and cheese. "The Coach" includes roast beef, pimento cheese and "tiger sauce".
You can check out Garnett's full menu here and if you're like me will be headed there soon to try out Wade's new sandwich for yourself.
