Supreme Court Decision on College Athlete compensation

This post made me think of Doug Brooks, that guy could sell snow cones to Eskimos. If he were still a Student/Athlete imagine the bank he could be making.

I'm no so sure the schools lose much, maybe gain some. If Player X is selling a jersey and that jersey has VCU on it, doesn't VCU collect a royalty for use of their logo? If the bookstore sells say an ACE teeshirt, doesn't the book store take a cut of the gross profit?

This is someone I know personally. At this point in time, I think some of the people that choose not to get an experimental drug just yet for whatever reason may be less ignorant than some of the people that got the vaccine the first opportunity they got.

Tell that to the father that lost his 19 year old son last week due to a reaction to the vaccine that the state college told them it was mandatory for incoming freshmen. Yes, pure ignorance.

If you get compensated for a product or service you are professional. I'm not following the amateurism is not static idea. When the time comes (not if) that a group college athletes go from amateur to professional, paying them in addition to tuition, I'll look at college sports no differently...

Supreme Court Decision on College Athlete compensation

Thanks to Mollen. This is the part that I think opens up Pandora's Box. Moreover, "even with respect to education-related benefits, the district court extended the NCAA considerable leeway. As we have seen, the court provided that the NCAA could develop its own definition of benefits that...

Couldn't agree more. Watching many of the Super Regionals this weekend it sure seems like softball is growing in fan support every year. The Mizzou softball fans are as passionate and engaged as VCU basketball fans. I watch and follow next to no MLB, follow a little college baseball once...

So I went back and looked at the benefit chart I received in the mail. Just maybe the folks at VCU are the folks with writing skills challenges. Word for word: "6 Parking passes may be purchased beginning at $500 and one additional parking pass may be purchased (beginning with Director's Society)"

    Semi-OT: A new in-state opponent for VCU?

A state tournament would be great for fans and the state but keeping it real: we don't want to play liberty or Radford for the same reasons VT and UVA doesn't want to play VCU

I didn't think it mattered but Georgia seemed more lax than Florida but I was in a more rural area in GA and in the cities of FL (near Boca) I was in the eastern side of PA (north of Philly) the week before and most everyone was doing the mask/distance thing, even outdoors. I just find it...

I was in a State this past week, one that is doing quite well and never really had a mask mandate. It was interesting to see how few people were wearing masks, not a whole lot of distancing, on the local news I saw a close to capacity sporting event. Mostly older folks and some restaurant...

I don't have a VCU diploma so I'm not as smart as most around here and also make more mistakes.

Going back and looking at the benefit chart online. I totally misread the one they sent in the mail a few months ago. "Parking passes may be purchased beginning at the $500 philanthropic level and one additional parking pass may be purchased (beginning with Director’s Society) Sorry about that.
