    Players The Vince Williams Thread

I would like to see the 2nd rounders get some type of guarantee. However, for me it comes down to the players. What do players want. Do you really think a guy like Vince would have preferred not to have his name called? Not to get the additional press albeit limited? My guess is most guys...

Just a speed bump. Its always a good time to trash talk them. Its a lopsided rivalry.

    Welcome Back Ryan

Welcome Back Ryan. I am happy you were man enough to swallow your pride, and humble enough to know that its not all about you. Ed I am happy you were gracious enough to put program above pride. Both men are to be applauded. Lets Go VCU.

    Welcome Back Ryan

WestEnd, they are young people, they are naturally enthusiastic. Also, as young people some of them have other things they would be doing but with inducement we get them in the building and hopefully build a life time fan.

    Players The Vince Williams Thread

I guess that kind of dispels the notion that being drafted in the 2nd round is of no benefit. As of today half of the guys have contracts and 1/3 have guaranteed contracts. As to those 9 overseas a good bet is some of them will get contracts as well.

However, that does not account for the 2nd rounders who have signed actual contracts. Fwiw, did anyone notice the UR guard Gilyard has signed a training camp deal with the Grizz? Might be a plus for Vince seeing a familiar face and having a pg, at least fro a while, who might feed him the ball.

That is unless they want to see if Mo can earn the first unit spot. If its already designated as his you would be correct. However, I am not sure that is the case.

Mo has shown flashes. He has to be more consistent especially in the red zone. Mo has to own 50-50 balls in the end zone.

    Former Recruits and Players

You can debate anything you want but you cannot tell a grown man whom "he" would choose when he didnt give us a criteria. The guy just made a statement and you went off, as you often do, and added your criteria in order to justify your point. Many coaches, players, fan make that type statement...

    Former Recruits and Players

I think you are missing his point. He didnt state they were the most NBA ready. He didnt even state they were the best. He stated, "he would take them. He didnt even give us the criteria he used. As such, you cannot debate his choice or his statement. Its his preference. Some people...

That all can be true. But Bones is also from the hood and their are things and lessons folks who grow up in the hood dont get. He was only in college two years not enough time to learn what you need like business acumen, the value of money, a good deal when he sees one. So he can be humble...

Agreed! We all want the guy to be great and have a great life. Basketball be damned. If he can put himself in position to get his family out of poverty then he wins. If he plays ball and falls short he loses. I am hoping for the win.

Actually I am not I am focused on reality of his situation. While many of you think you know these guys and their circumstances you really dont. I have had this conversation with many a VCU Basketball and to the player they agree. They dont show you who they are, they show you who you expect...

I figured you good folks who have walked in Bones' shoes would be supportive. Oh you havent. Whatever. If you arent where he is from you cannot imagine the pressure he will face early on (until he makes real life changing money) trying to keep his assets. Fwiw, his boys are likely his worst...

I'd rather he focus on basketball. Investing with your homies on things like music, night clubs, or restaurants/food trucks sure way to end up losing your dollars and getting distracted. #focus
