The Official Beat The Utah State Aggies in Sioux Falls South Dakota Thread

It's token, and by design I believe. Biggest thing is make the opponent uncomfortable, throw off their set, and then clamp down if necessary.

That's a heck of the way to start the season. That will be a good TOURNAMENT team. Rotations will get figured out, but our D saved the day after being lackluster in the first half. According to the rest of the A10 we're down, but we all know we just reload.

That Zone D was getting picked apart from the high post. No adjustments until they went press when it was too late.

How about the freshman that's 6'10 185 lbs? Seems like they have a few Porzingis type builds on their team. Also, think they have a big freshman who's heavier, Zapala I believe, who's supposed to be an impact freshman and spell Queta.

VCU to play in Crossover Classic (Sioux Falls, SD) 11/25-11/27

The tourney is in a bubble, no? Thus WSU not being able to play since they were denied entry. Probably safer than pretty much any other tournament we could be in.

VCU to play in Crossover Classic (Sioux Falls, SD) 11/25-11/27

Agreed on the well coached and share the ball, but Merrill shot 41%, everyone else was low 30s/upper 20s. It will be a contrast of styles, but if we can defend the 3 well and speed the game up I think it could be a good one.

VCU to play in Crossover Classic (Sioux Falls, SD) 11/25-11/27

I don't know, shooting averages for the returning players aren't great. Replacing Merrill will be a big task and they're young. Could be nice a match up with a team who has has a similar roster composition as us. They're definitely big, but outside of Queta, not very hefty. Need to use our speed...

    2020-21 Season Outlook

Sweet video. I think this also gives you an idea of the starting lineup plus 6th man. Ace, Bones, Vince, Key, Levi, Corey, and Arnold in Gold. I think Key is first off the bench. Obviously actual minutes are the most important stat, but just an observation.

    2020-21 Season Outlook

I think the approach to appease all will be minimized by the COVID scholly rules this season. Corey is a Rhoades guy, Stockard will get solid minutes because of his size and strength. Nobody is losing a year. Rhoades can play who he wants as much as he wants and figure out who's really going to...

    2020-21 Season Outlook

When you're an elite scorer, or the a team's best offensive weapon, the name of the game is separation. Playing on the ball, outside of pick and roll/pop, creating space is difficult. Creating space off the dribble can be done, but again, difficult. Running through screens, being able to cut at...

Nick Kern has committed to VCU

Interesting. I didn't catch the post, but I'm assuming you're insinuating there will be a few underclassman defectors from this years team? I don't think it's appropriate to speculate who, but based on freshman year usage and potential I don't think it's as clear cut who will and won't play as...

    2020-21 Season Outlook

Bones will certainly have his work cut out for him and I agree on his usage. I do somewhat disagree on the two bigs, and your worry about our offense is certainly warranted. I just don't think in the past we ever really had a true option, due to depth, to run two bigs. Corey is pretty mobile...

    2020-21 Season Outlook

With the season two weeks out what are y'all thinking as the opening day starting 5? Typically we would have had the exhibition game a few weeks ago so we would have had a peek at starters/rotations. It being such an underclass dominant team makes it a real crap shoot. Here's what I think: 1)...

Nick Kern has committed to VCU

Anyone also notice around the 18 minute mark where he directly asks if there's anyone he wants to add to the class; he said "[Rhoades told him he had 6'10" kid, but couldn't remember his name"]...? Gotta be Roosevelt, right? Not saying that's a commitment, but sounds promising.

Rams land 7’1 transfer big, Brendan Medley-Bacon

Certainly depends on match-ups, but on the defensive end could be a great way to clog the paint around the basket by playing Corey/Levi, Has/BMB, or some mix of that. On top of that, could result in a different offensive approach with a more conventional 3 out-2 in style vs. the 4 out 1 in we've...

Rams land 7’1 transfer big, Brendan Medley-Bacon

I counted just the past 10 years rosters and considered a big anyone 6'7 and taller. Also included Mo, he was listed at 6'6 and then grew to 6'7 (ehh?), and even included the guys like Reco McCarter who were listed at 6'7 but were hardly a big. Most years we had 3-4 guys over 6'7, this year we...

Nice problem to have in terms of playing time. We've been begging for years to have depth and true size in the frontcourt. This is the biggest VCU team I can remember. Are we now the biggest team in the A10?

    Recruiting 2020 Offers

Totally understand the argument, and while statistically it's pretty grim, these are the same types of stats that overvalued us this past season. I think we have some dogs coming in that will be acclimated to this level of play very quickly.
