now the fUR student newspaper is lighting up the basketball team

As they should. The men's BB team basically ignored the rules set up by the university and that the rest of the student body has to adhere to. While student athletes do get some extra benefits, this is above and beyond what the rest of the student body has access to. If they had a product that the student body could stand behind, then they would probably let it slide but I've always gotten the vibe that most of the students there don't care about their basketball team...

I hate the fudgeing ticks.

At the end of the day, college athletics are hard to navigate through with this virus. Most student athletes live with other teammates so there’s a good chance that one positive test will turn into two or more. But..... when you have 10+ players & staff testing positive, then you clearly were not following protocols.

As a proud VCU alum, I think MR is a stand up guy who appears to play things the right way. Eddie Mac has a typical politician AD type of way about him, but he seems to value working the right way. I’d be embarrassed if either of them handled anything the way those dickheads on River Rd have handled this.

This is insane. The conference should disqualify UR from participating in the tournament, although they won’t because they’re using the Robins Center.

eh, I am quite sure that our athletes are subject to different rules than other VCU students. They have University travel requirements, are subject to testing obligations beyond those applicable generally etc. I don't know enough to say whether the team is a beneficiary or a victim of additional/different restrictions

Yeah, but I’m pretty sure VCU or other schools didn’t quarantine their teams in premium hotels (that no one knows who is paying for) rather than on-campus facilities whenever COVID was a concern.
