Times dispatch

I'll take the Reid family'a work over Capel's coach staff.

"
The appointed time came and went without an announcement, but somebody made a fake social media account designed to look like Reid’s, and posted to it the announcement that he had decided to play college basketball at Pitt.

Several big-name reporters were duped, including CBS’s Jon Rothstein. Turner’s Bleacher Report website posted a full article and alert around the announcement, only to quietly delete it minutes later after the hoax was revealed by Reid’s brother, who said the star hasn’t committed anywhere yet.".

No one knows the true story but the people involved, therefore, you can defend your comments until you are blue in the face. Whether he did commit and then backed out will always be a mystery. Unfortunately, he is playing for a coach who cheats to win and has not developed a track record of developing NBA bigs. Since you are replying to comments can you provide your facts about LSU bigs that Wade developed and that are thriving in the NBA.

If giving a player we recruited the benefit of the doubt (like anyone else) is cringe then so be it.

Its the right thing to do.
DL, I love you standing up for a player, I think most here don't have a problem with Reid. Personally, I'm just puzzled by it. I think he had a lot better options than that. And no, Wade does not have a great track record of getting bigs or anyone else, to the NBA. He's really no more than average there.

You were trashing a player we were recruiting like, 2 weeks ago, to the point of saying that we should recruit players that had already committed elsewhere instead.

Its legitimate to question Coleman's proposed addition based on his past on court performance (Not his character) at Duke is part of normal forum discourse.

On the hand , trotting out a narrative which automatically infers Efton Reid and his family morally compromised themselves by knowingly participating in NCAA violations without proof is reprehensible.

The fact that you can't seem to understand or, worse yet, knowingly admit to that distinction between the two situations and place them in the same category is beyond me.

I haven't said anything about Reid. I dont care if he or his family took money nor would I view it as a moral failure if they did.

One thing I can agree with though is that this is beyond you, since you think there is some massive delta between:
  • You trashing a player we were recruiting on here because you think he is not good enough to play basketball for us
  • Other people trashing a player we were recruiting on here because he could have taken money to play for a guy that pays his players money to play for him
Not to mention, it seems you think that there is such a huge difference between the two that you are in a position to dictate to others what's right and what isn't as though you are some sort of moral authority on the matter.
