This is why the department needs to find a way to uptick student engagement. Student’s that don’t go to games aren’t going to donate to the program later in life.
Student engagement is important for the future.

Student engagement has nothing to do with current finances. It’s people in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond that pay for the athletic department.

If you factor in student fees they are probably paying more towards the AD than alumni are.

Realistically those 40 up that aren’t already donating are probably a lost cause. I’d love to know how many new donors the AD gets every year.

This is so true. My question is what do they need on an annual basis to feel competitive with NIL. They have not really said anything publicly that I know of. Do they need to hire a consultant or do they use the new fundraiser that was hired for the Athletic Village to help with NIL?
Is it possible to get details on NIL deals?

Student fees are about enrollment and not engagement.

this is the type of Out of Conference schedule VCU needs to aspire to play - MR needs to get to work with creating these type of personal relationships to get these type of opponents (substitute teams from the AAC into those slots where we see A10 teams) looks like 6 Tier 1 opportunities and only 3 Tier 4 yawners

2022-23 Memphis Tiger Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule (2021-22 NCAA NET Ranking in Parenthesis)
Oct. 23 – Christian Brothers University (exh.)
Oct. 30 – Lane College (exh.)

Nov. 7 – at Vanderbilt (62)
Nov. 15 – at Saint Louis (66)
Nov. 20 – VCU (57)
Nov. 24 – vs. Seton Hall (48) (ESPN Events Invitational; Orlando, Fla.)
Nov. 25 – vs. Oklahoma (39) or Nebraska (145) (ESPN Events Invitational; Orlando, Fla.)
Nov. 27 – vs. Florida State (104) or Stanford (106) or Ole Miss (110) or Siena (230) (ESPN Events Invitational; Orlando, Fla.)
Nov. 30 – North Alabama (316)
Dec. 3 – Ole Miss (110)
Dec. 6 – Little Rock (315)

Dec. 10 – vs. Auburn (13) (Holiday Hoopsgiving; Atlanta, Ga.)
Dec. 13 – at Alabama (32)
Dec. 17 – Texas A&M (36)
Dec. 21 – Alabama State (312)

The Memphis road game will help along with the Temple road game. If VCU can win the tournament in Barclay and those two the other games will not matter. A man can dream right?

does the 2051 for 22-23 represent the number of seats sold or the # of people buying season tickets and they may have multiple seats (my guess is the former but please clarify) thanks
That is the number of Season Tickets sold to all RAF donors as you must be one to get Season Tickets. In 2018-19 =3,769, 2019-20 = 3,438. In 2022-23 Most are bought by Director ($2,500) & below donors at 1,223 of the 2051 sold. Then 517 ST for Battering Ram ($10,000) and above, with 311 ST for Super Ram and Champion levels.
