Sick bro, you are definitely the greatest NET expert on the fan message board of the 60th best college basketball team this year. Thanks for constantly reminding us.

I am in awe of your wisdom.
Thanks. I stayed at a holiday inn last night and once used a stats book as a doorstop. Hard to beat those qualifications around here.

Ditch the net...let's just have a big round robin tournament...modeled after the World Cup...OOC is match play and then start the kick out games in Jan and finish in April.
Sure as poop can't be worse...

I wish this is a joke (I know better....)
I think I am most bothered by the committee member that said that they don't use the "eye test." They use metrics to temper their selection decisions. I get that they don't want to be called out for favoritism and they have something to point to to save their butts.
If they were going to use only metrics then it should just be strictly numbers, period. UNC should have been invited, NET 44, I think. Better than a lot of teams that got in. So, his statement doesn't hold water.
These results so far, with all the upsets, don't really support their selection system and seeding. The inconsistency of the results versus the selection process and seeding is way too skewed to support their selection process. This would be 3 standard deviations lower than average.
Because we don't know how their selection process or seeding works, we're all just speculating. That causes frustration especially with the coaches.
It's like saying my overall average is 97; here are my individual raw data scores 100, 56, 76, 82, 71, 68, 84, 77, 81. Tell me how I weighted the scores to get the overall average...numbers are all made up btw.
Also, btw, you have some educated guesses, but you don't know.

Because the Big 10 basically got their entire conference into the tournament and if MSU loses tomorrow the entire conference is out before the sweet 16. It was the conference we looked at the hardest because the Ohio St NET and rpi disparity was the most egregious.
Don't want to steal someone else's post and I would credit the right person if I remembered.
If I remember the post correctly, the BIG 10 last had a national champ in 1989...but they're the best conference? Results speak for themselves. You can't be that unlucky for years on end. Someone would have edged through and won.
