There were people here saying that it was a 4 bid league a couple months ago. I’ve been talking about the slow move down to a 2 bid league for a while. The conference is getting worse.

Loyola Chicago did not upgrade the conference. We need to put the full court press on to get Wichita State. Maybe try to convince Temple that FBS football won’t work for them and to come back. But I don’t really know where the A10 goes or where VCU can go without the A10.

Agreed. I used to love posting “Cry Havoc and set lose the dogs of war” . Unfortunately that’s turned into “This is the deepest team we’ve had in years and it’s ok if we lose a few games against better teams”

I still don’t understand why they added them. It seems like the better option would have been working to allow the top teams more flexibility to schedule non conference games to add to the resume.

It would be interesting to see what our lowest NET rankings were over the last 4-5 seasons while NET has existed, but our margin for error is pretty close to zero now. We can’t afford any bad losses and we need a couple good wins in our limited opportunities.

Our remaining OOC games as they stand today:
Jacksonville Q3
Howard Q4 (#326!)
Radford Q3
Northern Illinois Q4
Navy Q3

Someone else will have to run through the conference games because I don’t have time right now.

Rams only 6-3 vs. Radford (even lost with Kendrick Warren) and have dropped two of last four... what is most interesting is that VCU has played AT Radford three times; it would be unimaginable for the Black 'n' Gold, with nose up in the air, to book a game at the Highlanders now ... as for the present, I'd rank Radford tied for last with Hampton among state among D-1's.

Easier said then done. That logic doesn't work well today in the current men's basketball landscape. The power conferences have been adding games to league schedules and creating new power conference challenges eliminating more OOC game opportunities. Look at what VCU had to settle for with its OOC slate this season. I doubt additional games would have yielded much. Assistant coach Martelli has even commented that VCU might have to start accepting 2-1's to get high profile opponents. Non-power conference teams are getting further squeezed out as time progresses.

VCU comes in at #116 in the NET. If it's any consolation, we have the highest average opponent NET in the conference (57).

Interestingly, no Atlantic 10 teams are in the top 50.

And according to the Warren Nolan site the A-10 is the 14th ranked conference. So we are officially back in the old CAA.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but we've played Radford exactly 1 time in the 21st century. The "dropped two of last four" is kind of an odd take.
