So just win out? Pretty low bar there Joe.
In my opinion that tweet misrepresents what Joe said. He said take care of business and "avoid bad losses" whatever that means is up to interpretation I guess. But I wouldn't consider losing @SLU a bad loss. Splitting with Dayton probably wouldn't kill us either if we sweep SLU.

The rest would probably be considered "bad losses".

We'll see kind of worried about the Davidson game. On any given day they have enough talent to get it done. We've played well in spurts there but have a hard time closing the deal. Up big in 2019 there lost, up big last year and luckily held on
If Davidson figures out how to shoot for a game they will be dangerous. Without shooting the offensive scheme they run is pretty toothless. So they could absolutely get hot and beat us at home.

To put how ineffective Davidson was they outshot SLU by 13 on Friday and still lost by 4. That is hard to do.

I interpret "take care of business" to mean winning all of those games. And every other team on our schedule would probably be a bad loss in the context of bubble resumes. So that pretty much means winning out in my mind. We don't have enough really good wins in the bank to offset any slip ups the rest of the way.

That's exactly how I read it. If we're taking care of business against SLU and Dayton, that means we're not losing to them. And, as you said, any other loss on our schedule would be a bad one.

Yeah Davidson is tied for the worst 3pt% in the conference with Rhody and 328th in the country. It is actually impressive how bad they shoot it.

I am sticking to my benchmarks.

  • Hold serve at home (undefeated)
  • Win 4 roads
  • Top 4 seed to get the double bye
Then let the chips where they may.

So where are we now.

  • In progress
  • 3 roads (Loyola, Dayton, and Richmond)
  • TBD
For me, we are on schedule

People are sleeping on SLU even though they are riding a similar 6 game win streak, have basically the same record, and are the one team in the conference that matches our athleticism and has a PG as good as ours. This is the same team that beat a Memphis squad that ran us out the gym and pretty much killed our at large last year. I hope we get some sweet sweet payback this year and send them to the NIT.

Slowly but surely...... VCU 70 +1

Dayton 73 no change

St. Louis 86 +3 (record didn't update tho, maybe an error?)
For NET purposes, SLU’s won over D-2 school, Paul Quinn, doesn’t count. Thus, their record is 14-6 for NET purposes, even though they are 15-6 overall.

Just pointing out, we played Memphis without Ace and Shriver was 0-7 from three. We are not that same team. Last year when we adjusted our defense and Ace pretty much played straight up on Collins he made things very difficult for him and we came back from a big deficit and almost pulled it out. Don't overplay Collins from the start, don't leave your man if his name is Jimerson, and play everyone else tough, I think we take them twice.
BTW, they do not match our athleticism. They are probably stronger than us inside, but in speed, jumping, quickness, not they don't match us.

We've closed all of 'em out pretty well lately. Better than any other A10 team.
