Everything about NCAA programs coaching and program changes now that it's the offseason.

Thanks MM for creating a thread for us! Come on DL, Heel, Celtic Guy... anyone else that occasionally says something on here that almost everyone else rolls their eyes. As for me, having to be corrected 3 or 4 times a day for a couple of days in a row (maybe more than that) qualifies me doesn't it. Please, I want in!

Has anyone ever heard of the term cage score? When I was young I think it was newspapers (anyone remember them?), published what we call box scores now. And also did anyone know that in the early days of ball, the court was wrapped around with chicken wire!

When was basketball played in a cage?

In 1896, the first acknowledged professional basketball players played in a social hall enclosed in a 12-foot-high wire mesh fence. The cage was set up along the sidelines and endlines, so there really wasn't an "out-of-bounds" area, and spectators were safe from players fighting over the ball.

And the fences/ cages were needed to protect the players as "fans" throught items at them onto the court. "He's Hot" began from when an opponent was really playing well they would take a lighter or match and heat a coin and then throw it at the player. I guess the Havoc atmosphere has a long history
