The staff has not extended any new offers to 2024 prospects since the open season commenced at midnight yesterday, we are only notifying prospects of our interest.

It seems we are taking a more measured approach this time.

Any thoughts on this @RAMification ?

DL - I think it's too early to draw any conclusions regarding this issue. I will say this a lot of coaches seem to be a bit more measured with respect to prep players given they have the portal to harvest. Of course that comes later. I was actually hoping that the P5 guys would be consumed with the portal and give us a chance to nail some more 4-Star, top 100 prospects. Again it's too early to know the impact. The statistics are just not available as of yet.

It may also depend on who we get for 23' as to whom we offer for 24'.
Or we may just want to throw out that we are interested so the kid notices us each time we show up to a summer game even if we are looking at several kids playing. Perhaps spur the kids interest in us and/or gauge their interest in us.

Daquan is another St. Frances academy product. Lamothe is trying to recruit him to Maryland. But yeah...Ace, Lamothe, Carrington and now Davis.

Kevin Willard has made his priority to keep Maryland talent at college park.
Wish we could do that with Richmond, dang even just the neighborhood around VCU. I love St. Frances and what they do, their mission to Baltimore City kids, but I'd love to see a John Marshall pipeline to VCU also, add in Varina (maybe Fatts is the beginning) and we start to get a good core of local players. A lot of talent in college basketball right now that grew up within 20 miles of the VCU campus. As for Willard keeping kids in Maryland, don't be greedy there are more than enough kids in the B-more Catholic league alone to make you competitive in the Big 10. It's not going to hurt you if we sneak in every now and then and draw an ACE from that deck or a Dequan Davis. He also needs to look a little closer to home, College Park is much more tied in with the DC area than Baltimore. No lack of talent in DC either.

I think if we were in a P6 conference.....ala the Big East, we would have more success. Let's face it, many kids would choose an equivalent level...or even lower/weaker ACC school over VCU simply due to playing in the ACC where you get to play Duke and UNC every year and where the exposure is higher.
I'm not saying the A10 sucks and we need to leave...it's a great conference with great teams.....some whom are better than a number of BE or ACC teams. I'm simply saying that conference affiliation does also matter to kids when picking schools.

Yeah, partly wishful thinking on my part. Just thinking it would be nice to have landed one among Bacot, Wheeler and Reid. I don't want to be greedy, but darn one of those guys could have stayed home. Two of them may very well have been better off if they did. Time will tell.

Yeah, if we were only in a P6 conference, we might be able to beat out lower/weaker P6 programs like Florida, Oregon, WVa, GTown, Iowa, Wake, Marquette . . . . heck, maybe we could even dream of getting in one of those "experts'" top 50 recruiting class lists. Sigh. Yeah, that's just wishful thinking

Hang on . . . .

And how many have we recruited that also had P6 offers and decided to go to P6 schools.

Hang on ...
I never said ALL chose to go to P6 schools. I said many consider conference affiliation in with their school decision when finally sign.

We have been very good at getting high caliber talent against P6 competition for the same recruits. I simply feel we would be in a better position and have perhaps an easier time of getting that high caliber talent to sign.....and perhaps even higher caliber.

You are like the "Gotcha media" trying to screw my words around 😆😉

Again, I never said ALL

From the aau coaches and prospects I am admittedly obsessed with following on social media..the sentiment at least among the dmv prospects is to find the best fit before the summer is over and minimize the risk of competing the transfer portalers for d1 positions
