I've seen them four times and I am not impressed. Fernandez is the real deal. Their center is decent. The rest is hero ball, bad foul shooting, a lot of unforced turnovers. They beat a way undermanned Albany last night without Fernandez. Couldn't garner too much from that one, but don't be fooled by their record - they're not that good.

yup.... and clearly Frank Martin aint afraid to call $#!t like he sees it... even if hes not directly calling out one particular player. And he aint letting it slide just because the team is 7-1.

May seem like a douche move.... but in the long run, his team will be better off for it.

Yep. Which I prefer to us coddling them for fear of transfer. There’s absolutely some players this year that needed to catch heat. There’s a difference between Wade trashing the team and Martin giving some straight up tough love.

Yeah, I don't mind this approach at all, honestly. He's trying to motivate the team rather than throw them under the bus (like Wade).

Did you happen to see Deion Sanders speaking to the kids at Colorado after he accepted the job? To paraphrase in a nutshell: "If you don't want to work and you don't want to do what I coach you to do, then hit the transfer portal." Deion's not afraid of losing players to the portal. Love it!

There are also coaches who will rip into players, but they do it privately. That's what Shaka did and what Mike does. I know for a fact he's ripped into players. He just does it in private.

Then if Mike does they don’t listen. We’ve seen players look totally disinterested at times on the court and multiple people have taken notice of it. So if he’s ripping them a new one privately they ain’t taking it to heart. Don’t get me wrong Wade acted like an a$$ but he’d called your 💩 out if you weren’t putting the work in. Problem was he wouldn’t call himself out as well.

That's because it is never the coach's fault.

It's hard to tell if a kid is disinterested. Distracted, maybe. Exhausted, both mentally and physically, sure. Disinterested...not sure I buy that at all. All of the players work too hard to be disinterested during a game. Someone will need to explain the look of a disinterested player to me.

During one of the Brooklyn games, someone posted that Ace lacked leadership skills because he sat on the bench and was quiet when he should have been vocally encouraging the team. The camera was on him for about 4 seconds, and yet a poster was somehow able to determine Ace wasn't a leader because he sat quiet for FOUR seconds.

Trying to ascertain what a kid is thinking or feeling from the stands or watching on TV is difficult at best. The players, who I am defending here, are not robots. They'll run the gamut of emotions during games, but I don't buy disinterest at all.

Would you ever stand face-to-face with a VCU basketball player and tell them that they look disinterested or they aren't taking what the coach says to heart?

Really if that’s the case how do we explain some of the absolutely stupid turnovers? I don’t mean a miscommunication and someone goes the wrong way. I mean like giving the ball to the other team under basket. Like straight to them. We most definitely have players that simply check out. I don’t care if Ace hops up and down all the time like Bones but you can definitely tell opposing benches generally get way more excited than ours. There’s been games where our bench looked like they didn’t want to be there.

No because that’s not my job. That’s the coach’s.

Provide examples, otherwise this is another typical baseless Rambo take.

Heck up in Brooklyn our bench especially against Pitt was totally low energy. Our players didn’t look remotely excited. I love how you all love to pretend like everyone wasn’t saying that during the games here. I’m using Pitt for example because that was a absolutely ridiculous contrast. Pitt players bouncing around on sidelines anytime they got a stop. Our players barely reacted after a three pointer. That’s just that game. How often do you see our bench get excited? There was a time where our bench would lose its mind over a walk on getting in. See you want to sit here and say my comments are baseless but many of us have seen it on full display. Want me to drag up all the comments especially from the Pitt game(Or should I start from 2019?)? Because you know as well as me I’ll actually call bs out.

Also what gives your comments about Rhoades credibility? Because you say I know for a fact? Based on what? Do you and Rhoades have nightly chats about each other’s day, the game plan, and where to meet for lunch on Thursdays? If not who are you to come in acting like you know all the workings of the locker room?

I was at the Pitt game in Brooklyn. I will give credit to Pitt's bench, they were rowdy and I like to see that from a college basketball team. Energy is good. From a VCU perspective, we closed the first half on a run to take a 6 or 7 point lead and Nunn was high-fiving every teammate, manager, etc as he ran into the tunnel. In the second half Zeb picked a pass off at mid court and had an open dunk and I thought our bench was going to absolutely explode. If memory serves, that was half way through the second half. Shriver hit two 3s in the second half and I remember both times Fermin put his hands up in there air signaling a 3pt shot. Those are examples of our team getting hype against Pitt. I also saw multiple VCU players pumping up the crowd late against Vandy.

Regarding MR, what exactly are you talking about? I know of MR and he spoke at my dad's rotary club in 2017, but I'm not 100% sure he knows my name. I don't know where you are going with this.

1. We have seen the team act this in numerous cases where they look low energy especially on the bench. In fact it was noted here many times before I even said a thing. In fact it was others here who brought it to my attention early on this season. So let’s act like it’s “ Rambo is just making up stuff.” Nah because that’s the garbage people here like to do. “Oh you are putting words in my mouth.” No we’re repeating the words you said and now you are claiming we’re making 💩 up. I’ve had to quote people with their own posts because they pretend they didn’t say it. (This one isn’t directed at you in particular.)

2. You come here and want to try to discredit other posters stating our claims have no basis. Yet you want to say you know for a fact you know certain things. On what basis does your comments hold more weight than others? See if I say that 100% you’ll call my credibility into question and say I’m making something up. I know this because you do it regularly. On what basis should we not question the things you say you know for a fact?
